El tratamiento mediático del fin de ETA en los diarios ABC y El País (2011-2015)

Abstract

La presente investigación surge con el objetivo de conocer cómo un tema tan importante como es el cese definitivo de la actividad armada de ETA sigue reflejándose o no en la agenda setting de los periódicos generalistas tradicionales, ABC y El País. El contexto en el que se desarrollan los acontecimientos comienza con la fundación de la banda terrorista el 31 de julio de 1951. A partir de ese momento comienzan a sucederse actos de terrorismo por parte de ETA para conseguir sus exigencias políticas. Los atentados, negociaciones y las continuas treguas marcan la historia del camino del grupo terrorista en España. El 20 de octubre de 2011 se produce el anuncio del cese definitivo de la actividad armada de ETA, y en los siguiente cuatro años se continuará hablando del posible cese total de ETA (que en la actualidad no se ha conseguido), de los presos que aun cumplen condena, de los partidos que solicitan su amnistía y donde se sigue recordando a las víctimas de sus atentados. A partir de esta situación, esta investigación analiza el periodo que abarca desde octubre de 2011 hasta diciembre de 2015 (ambos incluidos). Se trata de fechas seleccionadas al azar para no condicionar los resultados del estudio. El estudio incluye una parte teórica y un apartado empírico en el que se analizan 192 documentos (96 de cada diario) donde puede encontrarse, o no, información sobre ETA. Para ello se recurre a una metodología de análisis de contenido cuantitativo y cualitativo que trata de despejar el interrogante sobre la continuidad informativa, o no, en la agenda setting de noticias referentes al grupo terrorista ETA. Los resultados y conclusiones generales indican que, pese al cese de la actividad armada de la banda, ambos diarios continúan con la información acerca de sus presos, política, financiación, homenajes o reuniones. The present research arises in order to know how such an important issue as it is the cessation of the armed ETA activity still captures or not in the agenda setting of traditional generalist newspapers ABC and El Pais. The context in which the events take place begins with the founding of the terrorist group on July 31, 1951. From that moment began to occur acts of terrorism by ETA to achieve their political demands politicians. Attacks, negotiations and continuous truces mark the history of the way of the terrorist group in Spain. On October 20, 2011 there is the announcement of the cessation of the armed ETA activity, and over the next four years to continue speaking of the possible cessation of ETA (which currently has not been), prisoners still serving sentence, of the Parties requesting their amnesty and where still remembering the victims of its attacks. From this situation, this research analyzes the period ranging from October 2011 to December 2015 (both included). It is dates selected randomly for do not influence the results of the study. The study includes a theoretical part and an empirical section which 192 documents (96 of each journal) where can be found, or not, analyzes information about ETA. To do this use a methodology of analysis of quantitative and qualitative content, that is clear or not, the question of informational continuity, on the agenda setting of news concerning the terrorist group ETA. Results and general conclusions indicate that, despite the cessation of the armed band activity, both newspapers continue with information about their prisoners, political, funding, tributes or meetings.
