La sostenibilidad del sistema de pensiones en España: reformas adoptadas y retos pendientes

Abstract

La sostenibilidad de nuestro sistema de pensiones está en peligro. La situación financiera en este momento es bastante preocupante, y de no aplicarse medidas adecuadas, se espera que empeore llegando incluso a hablar de insostenibilidad. A través del análisis que se ha realizado en este trabajo, se puede concluir que la fuente de ingresos de la que el mismo se nutre no es suficiente y, que los gastos no dejan de incrementarse, sobre todo a partir de la gran recesión sufrida en España, y no sólo eso, sino que se mantiene la perspectiva de que en un futuro sigan haciéndolo. Debido al envejecimiento de la población, los gobiernos se han visto obligados a aplicar reformas para intentar reconducir el equilibrio financiero del sistema, de las cuales las más importantes son las dos últimas, que han sido llevadas a cabo en los años 2011 y 2013. A pesar de estas reformas nuestro sistema sigue enfrentándose a una serie de retos, sobre todo demográficos, a los que debe de dar respuesta. The sustainability of our pension system is in danger. The current financial situation is highly worrying, and if appropriate measures are not taken, it can be expected to get worse, even to the point where the system is no longer sustainable. Through the analysis explored in this project, it is possible to conclude that the source of income which currently sustains the system is insufficient. Equally it can be concluded that the expenses are continually increasing, above all as a consequence of the financial crisis which Spain suffered. Added to this, is the fact that this increase in expenses is expected to continue into the future. Given the current situation of an aging population, the government has intervened in order to try and ensure the financial stability of the system. This intervention includes two recent, and very important, reforms which came into affect in 2011 and 2013. Despite the measures taken our system is still facing a number of challenges, above all demographic challenges. It is necessary respond to said challenges and in the Pact of Toledo new propositions for reforms are currently being debated.
