In Spain, Congenital Hypothyroidism has an incidence of 1 in 2500-3000 live births. It is most frequently in female newborns. This disease is the most common cause of preventable mental disability and its prognosis is in inverse proportion to the age at the diagnosis. The 10% of hypothyroidism cases are from a variety called Transient Congenital Hypothyroidism (TCH). Most of the causes of TCH are stoppable, so it could be possible to avoid, not even the symptoms, also the occurrence of the disease. Avoiding the TCH also disappear the psychosocial familiar impact, the newborn chronic treatment and the delayed growth and development
