AB The University of Valladolid holds in its old repository located in the library of Santa Cruz nearly600 books printed in England, Scotland, and Ireland before 1800. The present study will make acontribution to the field of bibliography and its different disciplines. This dissertation also dealswith the history of the university, its library, and its studies. Its main purpose is to survey those rarebooks according to subject matter, place and date of publication, language, and location. Resultsallow us to show that the majority of the titles were written in English and published in the lastquarter of eighteenth-century London, and that they dealt with modern subjects like Moral andNatural Philosophy, Economy and Politics, and Grammar and Rhetoric. The final goal of thisresearch is to present for the first time the richness of the collection and the modernity of its topics,when compared to the more traditional disciplines taught at the university in the period.
