RT info:eu-repo/semantics/article T1 El reformismo social republicano en el pensamiento de Ricardo Macías Picavea A1 Serrano Blanco, Laura A2 Ediciones Universidad de Valladolid K1 Historia moderna y contemporánea AB One of the basic aspects in the Spanish intellectual, Ricardo Macías Picavea's thought (1846-1899) in his restleness reformism which grows up from his education close to some outstanding republican professors (the so-called Republicanismo de Cátedra), but evolves into more arbitrates and authoritarian attitudes throughout the years, so revealing his gradual lost of trust in the Spanish society's abilities in order to reform itself. His social thought springs up from his joining to progresist republicanism, as we can see it in the political, social and moral changes he proposes. Even though he was losing his faith into democracy and tended to possibilism in his later years under the influence of Spain's negative evolution and the 1898 Desastre, we have emphasized the study of his bond with the social reformist republican trend at the end of the XIX century. To his end we maintain the convenience to take in mind his production as a whole, not only El Problema Nacional, hithero esteemed by criticals and scholarlies as the unique expression of his intellectual personality; so we pay attention to some previous writing where the influence of his social reformist and republican trend clearly shows.
