AB This paper analyzes the participation of the merchant Martin Fernández de Tejada in the credit system of the Spanish monarchy during the second half of the 17th century. The volume of loans granted in Madrid, in addition to the figure of the persons and institutions that get them, seek to contribute to the study of the credit’s role in the Spanish society in an economic climate affected by the war and the fluctuations of the money supply.
