We center on the following second-ordermethods: Strang splitting and Lawson method based on aone-parameter family of $2$-stage $2$nd-order explicit Runge-Kuttamethods. Regions of stability are plotted and numerical resultsare shown which corroborate the theoretical results. Besides, atechnique is suggested to avoid the possible numericalinstabilities which do not correspond to continuous ones.
