AB This work deals with the assimilation of vowel lengthening in EFL Spanish speakers at an advanced level, and tries to determine if the explicit teaching of phonetics contributes to the acquisition of this trait. Finally, it aims to analyze the students' own perception of their level of oral competence, and to observe if both realities correspond one each other.
