During the trials, although there were both men and women accused and executed, women were the most prosecuted. From the point of view of the accusers, these women gathered the main characteristics of witches. The present research tries to analyze how witches are represented in Katherine Howe’s novel, The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane. The novel presents different generations of witches that range from the Salem witch hunt to 1991. To achieve this, the witches included in this novel are going to be analyzed in terms of the physical and personal characteristics typical of witches as well as the reasons why they were accused during the Salem witchcraft trials and the presence of magic.
