AB Access to the content of information in criminal proceedings has become a fundamental right of accused or suspected persons in the European judicial area. For that reason, Directive 2012/13, of 23 May, introduced minimum standards and common rules for all member states with the aim of strengthening the procedural guarantees for the Defence. The objective of this study is to offer a global view of the legal treatment of the procedural right to the information as a source of knowledge of the rights of the defendant, as an instrument for access to the accusation and as a tool to make available the materials in the “case file” . ’
