Using a descriptive methodology, theselected tracks have been examined considering the five criteria set in Peter Low’sPentathlon Principle for song lyrics translation (i.e. rhythm, rhyme, naturalness, singabilityand sense), along with the restrictions derived from the search for synchrony with the visualchannel. Our conclusions suggest that the decisions made by translators in rendering songlyrics are normally subjected to the latters’ skopos.
