This is achieved by designing activities to be developed in the classroom using three specific movies: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001); Finding Nemo (2003); and The King’s Speech (2010). Aspects such as reasons behind the choosing of the movies and factors to take into account when selecting these type of materials are also discussed in this work, as well as different theories such the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTLM) are presented as a support to the work’s objectives.Through these movie students will see the difference in pronunciation between British (BrE) and American English (AmE), as well as slang words and phrases commonly used in both varieties.
