AB The purpose of this dissertation is to identify and analyse the classical sources thatinfluenced the Shakespeare’s tragedy Titus Andronicus. In order to reach this aim, thestudy of the influence of Greco-Latin tradition will be developed with the purpose ofreach a better understanding of the process of imitation and adaptation that the dramatistcarried out. Finaly, there is a comparation of the differences and similaritiees betweenTitus Andronicus and the two main classical sources that insired it: Ovid’sMetamorhoses and Senecas’s Thyestes.The conclusion reached is that Titus Andronicus’ plot is based on the topics treated intwo classics that Shakeseare adapted at his own time, as well as the audience of thisplay does because these themes are still present in our society.
