AB In Spain, gender inequalities have always been present in all social areas. This researchaims to detect if there is gender inequality in General Cuts, specifically in Deputies’Congress, and it tries to analyse how the Chamber is composed from a gender perspective,from the beginning of actual democracy that started with first elections in 1977, to thepresent with the XIII Legislature in 2019. The study shows how throughout thedemocracy, Spanish women have been underrepresented in the Congress, not only in aminority of seats but also in power organs of the Lower Chamber as the presidency andtherefore, it’s evidence that female population has not been equally represented inParliament that male population, but in the same way these disproportions have beenreduced over the years so that actually the presence of women in Congress has reachedhistorical points and who knows if in the future there will be more women deputies thanmen deputie
