The intervention proposal presented in this paper is aimed to assessthe value of including literary texts in the English teaching process as it has proven to reinforcethe learning experience of the students, allowing them to grow both academically andpersonally. The relevance of selecting an appropriate writing that engages and motivatesyoungsters will be crucial in order to fulfill the students’ needs and expectations, thus youngadult literature will be an adequate genre to appeal students since it speaks directly to them, making them question their current vision of the world and society surrounding them. This isexpected to promote a critical thinking that prepares them to fight for a tolerant and respectfulsociety.
