RT info:eu-repo/semantics/article T1 La infructuosa venta en almoneda de las pinturas de Isabel la Católica A1 Zalama Rodríguez, Miguel Ángel A2 Ediciones Universidad de Valladolid K1 Arte AB From more than a century, it has be en known that Spanish queen Isabella the Catholic owned an important number of pictures. By years scholars have been thinking that the queen was an important collector of pictures. Nevertheless, it is no possible to consider Isabella a collector in a modern sense of the word. She had a lot of pictures, but she was much more interested in other pieces, mainly in pieces of gold and silver, but al so in tapestries, because around 1500 painting was not too important. We have a proof about that: when the queen died her personal objects were put on sale, but many of the pictures were not bought, in spite of prices were lower than other objects. The importance of paintings was increasing along 16th Century, but in the time of Catholic Kings it had not any priority.
