AB This paper is an attempt to quantify the established army in the Duchy of Milan during the 17th century, on the basis of troops records from documentation of the State-Milan section in Simancas General Archives. Global numerical information is analysed as well as the national composition of the Spanish army mobilized in Milan in that period, when this duchy was really a strong fortress of the Monarchy because of its strategical importance.
