RT info:eu-repo/semantics/article T1 Vicente Naharro y los juegos corporales en la Educación Física española de la primera mitad del siglo XIX A1 Torrebadella Flix, Xavier A2 Ediciones Universidad de Valladolid AB Starting from Descripción de los juegos de infancia, los más propios á desenvolver sus facultades físicas morales, y para servir de abecedario gimnástico Madrid (1818), the first book on Spanish Physical Education published by primary schoolteacher Vicente Naharro, we present a study that deals with the pedagogical tradition of physical play in the education of the first half of the 19th century. The study is based on the history of humanism and the subsequent influences in the Enlightenment. The aforesaid work is presented as the first proposal of a Physical Education syllabus tacitly accepted by the Spanish teaching. At the end of the study we analyse its extent and its impact in relation to the historical context and the education system of the time period. This study also emphasizes the contribution to a pedagogical approach, which through play and Integral Education, openly objected to the military and political implementation of Physical Education at school.
