RT info:eu-repo/semantics/article T1 Hacia una pedagogía del cuerpo: la Educación Física en Chile. 1889-1920 A1 Martínez Fernández, Felipe A2 Ediciones Universidad de Valladolid AB The aim of this research is historicizing the implementation and development of physical education (PE) as a discipline and pedagogical practice in Chile between 1889 and 1920. The first date marks the beginning of compulsory PE in the school system, while the second indicates a greater intervention by the State to legislate and promote a State PE through the creation of specialized agencies. The study of the process of constitution of PEas a discipline and as a teaching practice requires the understanding of the political, cultural and social context that had an impact on their development, the debates about the pedagogical models to be taken, as well as the mechanisms through which such models should socialize through schooling. Finally, the understanding of the role that physical cultivation should play on the expansion project of the Chilean state at the beginning of the XXth century.
