RT info:eu-repo/semantics/article T1 El cambio climatico y sus efectos sobre la salud humana A1 Useros Fernández, José Luis A2 Ediciones Universidad de Valladolid AB Since the dawn of the 20th century most of the countries of the North, have been improving their socio-economic development and have attended an apparent elevation of levels of well-being, in a permanent, pointed and unfair contrast with the poor. This development, at the same time allowing access to consumption often uncontrolled required significant efforts of exploitation of natural resources and power generation to boost industrial development. Among the negative effects of that development has appeared the serious problem of global warming of anthropogenic origin, causing serious impacts on the environment, ecosystems and animal species in the form of climate change. Moreover and, no doubt, more serious, it is the direct and indirect effect of climate change on human health, with acute or chronic results and which represent a serious burden of disease and mortality and significant growth of the direct costs of health care and indirect costs of social protection. All these reasons must make us adopt a belligerent attitude towards climate change and a preventive approach to reduce the impact of climate change on human health.
