AB The present study focuses on the investigation and amplification of existinginformation regarding the field of culture and its current theories and research on theelements that make it up and the differences between cultures, focusing on theanalysis and comparison between cultures through the use of different theoriespresent in the field of intercultural communication. From the hand of the theoristsGeert Hofstede and Gerhard Maletzke and their theories about the dimensions andcultural characteristics, respectively, complementing this with additional informationthat allows us to understand, relate and observe these theories with clarity, weintend to give the reader a general idea of the composition of cultures and theelements that differentiate them and make them unique, as well as finding thoseelements that unite them.The theoretical study will be complemented by a comparative analysis of thedifferences between the Mediterranean and the German cultures, using the theoriesmentioned above, initially through the data obtained and published by Hofstede andlater making use of Maletzke's theory on cultural characteristics to present a broadand deep comparison between both cultures, in the analysis of the film "My greatItalian wedding", of original name "Maria, ihm schmeckt's nicht!".
