The musical repertoire accompanying these dances is characterized by high dynamism and the use of non-dense models in the zurna, as well as rhythmic commetricity built on dense models in the davul accompaniment. The primary users of these dances are rural Kurdish communities of tribal origin and peripatetic wedding musicians. Gender dependence on heteropatriarchal social structures is reflected in the use of dance, where the choreographic language intended for women and men embodies among others their differentiated access to initiative in social life. Additionally, the stigmatization of wedding musicians has paved the way for the institution to discredit them and take control of official folklore production. However, the coexistence between ritual practice and institutional repertoire has led to a certain democratization and significant enrichment for both.
