Sanear la ciudad, proporcionar vivienda barata y ordenar el desarrollo urbano -en definitiva, construir la ciudad de manera racional- son los objetivos de ascendente reformista que se conjugaron en las políticas socialistas del Ayuntamiento de Grenoble en las primeras décadas del siglo XX y que darian lugar a la ciudad-jardín Paul MistraI. Los perfiles biográficos e ideológicos y las trayectorias políticas de los protagonistas en el proceso de su gestación y construcción (Mistral y Sellier, principalmente) se proponen aquí como claves interpretativas del devenir de este ambicioso proyecto.
Improving the sanitary conditions in the cities, providing affordable housing to the working class and arranging urban development -in brief, to build a city in a rational way- are the reformists objectives that the socialist policies of the town council of Grenoble took in the first decades of the twentieth century and which gave rise to the Garden-City Paul Mistral. The biographical and ideological profiles and the political trajectories of the protagonists in the construction and gestation process (mainly due to Mistral and Salier) are proposed here as clues for explaining the process of development ofthis ambitious project.
