Aplicaciones Tridentinas: la Visita del obispo Sancho Dávila al cabildo de la catedral de Murcia (1592)

Abstract

The subsequent years to the end of the Council of Trento, the bishops tried to reinforce their authority, such and as were deduced of the Council and of the confesionalist program of the Philipine Monarchy. One of their principal reefs found it in the chapters, that were representing the sector of the clergy more opposed to the reforming currents. In this context, the prelates will arrive to an agreement with the members of the chapters in order to avoid conflicts that could have altered the diocesan life.

Los años posteriores a la finalización del Concilio de Trento, algunos obispos intentan reforzar su autoridad, tal y como se deducía de las directrices conciliares y del programa confesionalista de la Monarquía filipina. Uno de sus principales escollos lo encontraron en los cabildos catedralicios, que representaban el sector del clero más opuesto a las corrientes reformadoras. En este contexto, los prelados llegarán a un acuerdo con los capitulares con el fin de evitar conflictos que podrían haber alterado la vida diocesana.
