La influencia política de las ciudades en los territorios Habsburgos a comienzos del siglo XVI

Abstract

A principios del reinado de Carlos V -entre 1517-1526- estallaron diferentes rebeliones en diversos territorios. El presente artículo se acerca a una comparación entre dichos movimientos. Durante todos ellos -las Comunidades de Castilla, la Lucha de los Estados (Standekampf) y la Guerra de los Campesinos- las quejas de las ciudades tuvieron un papel importante. En sus exigencias había ciertas similitudes, al mismo tiempo que, finalmente, las diferentes alteraciones contemplaron ciertas líneas de influencia recíproca. Con estas quejas, las ciudades no sólo se enfrentaron con el joven Carlos sino también con una administración incierta ante la nueva formación política. Por lo tanto, aquí trataremos de las posibilidades jurídicas y la situación administrativa de diferentes ciudades en territorios tan alejados geográficamente como la Alta/Baja Austria y Castilla.

At the beginning of the reign of Charles V as Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire or as Charles I as King of the Spanish Kingdoms various and very different territories came together. But not only territories but also cities profoundly different in their history, social compositíon and culture under the same rule were united. The remarkable point is, that at the beginning of this reign between 1517 and 1526 a number of revolts took place. In the present article the focus in put on the legal possibilities, forms of representation and conflicts of cities in Castile and the Western Habsburg lands within the Empire ("Upper Austria") in the eve of these rebellions. This leads to a comparison of demands during each rebellion.
