En este trabajo analizamos la formación, evolución y estructura de una de las principales compañías financieras de principios del siglo XVI: los Fuente. Dicha familia, originaria de Toledo, controló el arrendamiento de la renta de la seda durante bastantes décadas, articulando para ello su labor de comerciantes de este producto y de financieros de la corona. Para ello debieron contar con numerosos apoyos políticos, entre los que cabrían destacar el del capitán general del reino de Granada y el propio tesorero general de Castilla.
In this study, we analyze the origins, evolution and structure of one of the most important financial companies of the beginnings of XVlth century: The Fuente family. This family from Toledo controlled the lease of the revenue of the silk for decades, articulating their function as merchants of this product and financiers of the crown. In order to be successful in their activities, they had to obtain several political supports. And the most important of all them were the general captain of Granada and the general treasurer of Castile.
