La poesía de José Ángel Valente plantea temáticas fundamentales sobre el espacio y la materia, conjugando voz poética y pensamiento artístico y filosófico. Nos revela el sentido de las formas del arco y del círculo a través de la sabiduría taoísta y del Zen. Compone poemas para responder al concepto de materia de artistas españoles, tales como Eduardo Chillida, Luis Fernández y Antoni Tàpies. Desde la perspectiva ética, en el poema «Hibakusha», la materia de Valente ofrece experiencias acústicas, que constituyen un espacio de la memoria histórica y una representación del ser humano. Nos invita a escuchar el espacio material y corporal, destruido por bombas atómicas.
The poetry of José Ángel Valente brings up fundamental issues of space and matter, combining the poetic voice with the artistic and philosophical thought. It reveals the sense of forms of arc and circle that correspond to the wisdom of Taoism and Zen. Valente composed some poems that responded to the concept of matter represented by Spanish artists, such as Eduardo Chillida, Luis Fernández and Antoni Tàpies. Furthermore, from an ethical perspective, in the poem “Hibakusha”, Valente´s matter offers audio experiences which indicate a space of historical memory and representation of human beings. We are invited to listen to the material and corporal space ruined by atomic bombs.
