El artículo estudia la prosa ensayística y aforística de Francisco Valdés, autor extremeño protagonista de la Edad de Plata. En sus textos, Valdés desarrolla una crítica que parte de la perspectiva de un lector atento, llegando a proponer, incluso, reinterpretaciones de las obras que glosa. De sus artículos en prensa se analizan su estilo y los autores que comenta, fuente indiscutible para conocer sus referentes y los caminos de su prosa. Se analizarán también algunos aspectos de su producción aforística a partir de un cuaderno inédito que enlaza perfectamente con la línea de la literatura de la época.
This article analyzes Francisco Valdés’ essays and aphorisms in the context of the Silver Age of the Spanish Literature. In his texts, Valdés develops reviews which stem from the perspective of a watchful reader, and he suggests reinterpretations of the works he comments on. From his articles in press, we look into his style and the authors he deals with, which are an undeniable source to find out his models and his prose style. Finally, we will analyze some aspects of his aphoristic production from an unpublished notebook which connects perfectly with the literature of the age.
