Carlos Barral o un reverso guilleniano

Abstract

Si bien se han venido investigando los puentes entre dos generaciones poéticas españolas como la del 27 y la de los años 50, dichos trabajos no son los más abundantes, sobre todo cuando se trata de estudiar a un autor encasillado como difícil, como es el caso de Carlos Barral. No obstante los textos del Cántico de Jorge Guillén encuentran una notabilísima recepción en el Metropolitano de Barral, estableciéndose un nexo en absoluto desestimable entre dos nombres en apariencia tan distantes. Este estudio mostrará cómo ambos escritores filtran o poetizan la realidad de forma similar aunque con actitudes sistemáticamente opuestas: la forma de concebir el mundo por Barral es el negativo perfecto de la manera en que lo hace Guillén. Se analizará la afinidad del poeta catalán por el vallisoletano desde varias perspectivas, que van desde su relación vital —en la que resulta fundamental el papel de Jaime Gil de Biedma— hasta las huellas de Cántico en Metropolitano, pasando por una lógica poética análoga. Finalmente, se hará palmario el hecho de que Jorge Guillén fue el poeta español del siglo xx —y puede que de la Historia de la literatura española— más admirado por Carlos Barral.

Even though connetions between two poetic spanish generations as the 27 and 50s have been studied, these researches aren’t the most abundant, especially when it’s about studying an author considered difficult, as it’s the case of Carlos Barral. However the texts of Jorge Guillén’s Cántico influenced in Barral’s Metropolitano, meaning an important relation between two seemingly distant poets. This research will show how both writers poeticize reality in a similar way, although with systematically opposed attitudes: the particular world of Barral is the perfect negative of Guillén’s world. It’ll be analyzed the poetic affinity of the writer from Barcelona for the writer from Valladolid from several views, like their life relationship —in which the role of Jaime Gil de Biedma is essential—, traces of Cántico in Metropolitano and a similar poetic logic. Finally, the fact that Jorge Guillén was the spanish poet of the twentieth century —even of the spanish Literary History— most admired by Carlos Barral will emerge as an evident conclusion.
