Este artículo versa acerca de la ganadería de un municipio costero asturiano, Avilés, a mediados del siglo XVIII. Está apoyado documentalmente en los datos ofrecidos por el Catastro del Marqués de la Ensenada. Se analiza la importancia que el sector pecuario tiene en esta zona, y en especial el vacuno, que representa el 44,25% de la cabaña ganadera municipal. De las explotaciones que declaran más de un animal, en el 82,7% de los casos tienen vacas.
This article deals with the cattle of a coastal municipality in Asturias, Avilés, about the middle of XVIII century. It's documentarily based on the data that the Catastro del Marqués de Ensenada offers. One analyses the importance that has the cattle sector in this area, and specially the bovine that represents the 44.25% of the municipality sheep. The explotations declearing more than one beast have cows on the 82.7% of the cases.
