Las condiciones materiales del clero parroquial del obispado de Segovia en el siglo XVIII: Normativa legal sobre sus ingresos o congrua clerical

Abstract

El presente artículo estudia las condiciones materiales de la vida del clero parroquial de Segovia en el siglo XVIII y, más en concreto, se analiza la normativa legal existente sobre los ingresos mínimos del clero o "congrua clerical". Para ello, se examina el Plan de reforma beneficial que se lleva a cabo en la segunda mitad del setecientos, con el fin de asignar a los miembros del clero parroquial unos ingresos suficientes para que puedan llevar una vida de acuerdo con la dignidad de su estado, lo que en buena parte se consigue.

This paper studies the living conditions of the parish clergy in Segovia bishopric during the 17th century. It analyses in particular the legal regulation about the minimum wages of the clergy or "congrua clerical". To achieve that, we examine the glebe reform Plan that took place in the 2nd half of the 17th century. This Plan was established to give the parish clergy enough wages to lead a life in accordance with the rank of their status, which was achieved to a large extent.
