Representaciones solares en la epigrafía de Asturias

Abstract

The most prominent iconography in the Asturias epigraphy documents is identified with the astral images, especially with the sun circle, sometimes symbolized with his rays. The documents which contain the sun circle epigraphic figures are oicomorphes inscriptions, not only for their typology that also for their connection with the deceased’s reception; these representations convert into the expression of the deceased’s survival after dead. These sun figures seem to imply a direct reference to afterlife; they symbolize the regeneration made from the king of the sky, the sun, with his daily rising: life comes up again for people residing in the netherworld

La iconografía más destacada en los documentos epigráficos de Asturias se identifica con las figuraciones astrales, en especial con el círculo solar, en ocasiones representado con sus rayos. Los documentos que contienen las figuraciones epigráficas en el disco solar se corresponden con inscripciones oicomorfas, no sólo por su tipología, sino también por su vinculación con la recepción del difunto; estas representaciones se convierten en la expresión de la supervivencia del fallecido después de la muerte. Dichas figuraciones solares parecen implicar una referencia directa al más allá; simbolizan la regeneración realizada por el astro rey, el sol, con su salida diaria: la vida brota de nuevo para las personas que residen el en inframundo.
