Conocimiento experto, consumo y cuerpo: relaciones 'en' y 'para' la hipermodernidad

Abstract

This paper deals with the importance that consumption and expert knowledge play in shaping current physical culture while placing them in the hypermodernity framework, The author emphasises the intimate relation between both as a marketisation of knowledge and points out that advertising and the market are the new regulating agents on the body, both of which contribute to cultural homogenisation - in terms of diffusing a particular purchasing mentality - and invading institutions such as schools. Finally she questions the role of the school as an agent of change or as an agent of social reproduction.

El texto analiza la relevancia del consumo y el conocimiento experto y científico como configuradores de la actual cultura física y corporal, dibujando las lógicas que en el marco de la hipermodernidad los sustentan y definen. Resalta también la íntima relación existente entre ambos en lo que denomina la marketinización del conocimiento y apunta a la publicidad y el mercado como nuevos agentes reguladores del cuerpo que contribuyen a la homogeneización cultural - en términos de extensión de una misma mentalidad adquisitiva - e invaden instituciones como la escuela. Finalmente se pregunta sobre el papel reproductor o de cambio de la escuela.
