Enfermería ante la adaptación y calidad de vida en mujeres con cáncer de mama.

Abstract

Introducción: el cáncer de mama es el tipo de cáncer más frecuente en la población femenina, afectando a su calidad de vida (CV). El personal de enfermería debe conocer y aplicar todos los cuidados necesarios para mejorar la CV de estas mujeres. Objetivos: evidenciar la influencia del rol de enfermería en la CV de mujeres con cáncer de mama, así como, aportar conocimientos sobre los cuidados que deben realizar, reflejar que el modo de afrontar la enfermedad influye en su CV y describir los efectos que causa el cáncer en las relaciones sexuales. Metodología: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica en diferentes bases de datos, mediante un protocolo de búsqueda sistematizado siguiendo el formato PICO, DeCS, MeSH durante los meses de enero a mayo de 2017.Los criterios de inclusión fueron: texto completo disponible, artículos comprendidos entre 2007 y 2017 en inglés y español. Tras la búsqueda, selección de los artículos y revisión crítica de los mismos se seleccionaron 14 artículos. Resultados y discusión: se destaca la importancia del papel de enfermería, que además de responsabilizarse de las curas y procedimientos a realizar, deben acompañar y guiar en todo el proceso de la enfermedad y garantizar la continuidad de los cuidados. Las áreas más afectadas en las mujeres son el funcionamiento emocional, la fatiga, el dolor, la sexualidad y los síntomas asociados al brazo, todas ellas, afectan a su CV. El ámbito sexual de la mujer se ve potencialmente afectado debido al impacto de la enfermedad. En esta área es importante que las enfermeras se preocupen por ellas y las orienten en sus necesidades. Hay que recalcar que afrontar la enfermedad con optimismo y minimizando los pensamientos negativos, ayuda a una adecuada adaptación a la enfermedad. Conclusión: tras la revisión realizada, se manifiesta que el cáncer de mama es una experiencia traumática y negativa para la mujer, que afecta deteriorando su CV. Por este motivo la atención de enfermería es imprescindible para que la experiencia negativa se convierta en una lección de vida positiva.

Introduction: the breast cancer, between the female population, is the most common cancer. It affects their quality of life (QL) in a direct way. The nursing staff must know the care needed for their daily life and how to apply them for improving the QL of these women. Objectives: the main goals are to make evident the role of nurses in women`s QL with breast cancer, to show the importance of facing the illness in the best possible way and finally, to describe the effects in the sexual relations. Methodology: A bibliographic review was made in different databases, through a systematic protocol of search following the PICO, DeCS and MeSH formats during the months from January 2017 to May 2017. The inclusion rules were: available completed text and Spanish and English articles which are included between the years 2007 – 2017. After the search, articles selection and the critical review of them, fourteen articles were finally selected. Results and discussion: the importance of nursing role was highlighted, not only due to the responsibility of treatments and to make procedures, but also they must assist and guide patients during the disease process and guarantee care continuity. Most affected areas in females are the emotional behavior, fatigue, pain, sexuality and symptoms associated with arm. All of them affects to their QL. Sexual ambit in woman is potentially affected due to disease impact. In this area is important that nurses get worried about patients and also to guide them down their needs. It is crucial to highlight the fact of facing the disease with optimism and reducing negatives thoughts in order to get properly adapted to illness. Conclusion: this review reveals that breast cancer is a traumatic and negative experience to women which damages their QL. For this reason, nursing role is really important to convert negative experience in a positive life lesson.
