Esta investigación explora la representación de la mujer a través de los personajes femeninos presentes en las veintidós películas del Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel desde 2008 hasta 2019. El interés del estudio proviene de la gran popularidad de esta saga de superhéroes a nivel mundial y el poder e influencia del cine como medio de masas a la hora de crear y transmitir modelos. Se propone así un análisis cuantitativo y cualitativo de las películas y sus personajes femeninos basado en el modelo de Greimas y el Test de Bechdel, entre otros métodos, para hallar sus funciones narrativas, estereotipos que presentan o una hipotética hipersexualización. Las conclusiones señalan una mejora sustancial en el grado y calidad de la representación de la mujer con el paso del tiempo.
This research explores the representation of women through the female characters present in the twenty-two films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe from 2008 to 2019. The interest of the study comes from the great popularity of this saga of superheroes worldwide and the power and influence of cinema as mass media when creating and transmitting models. We propose a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the films and their female characters based on the Greimas model and the Bechdel Test, among other methods, to find their narrative functions, stereotypes they present and a hypothetical hypersexualization. The conclusions point to a substantial improvement in the degree and quality of women’s representation over time.
