En este trabajo analizamos el pleito que, entre 1597 y 1598, litigaron Benito Puche,
maestro de escuela italiano, y Francisco Ponce, alcaide de la cárcel de Palencia, por la
enseñanza de su hijo Francisco Ponce el mozo. A partir del contenido del proceso y de los
contratos de enseñanza conocidos hasta ahora, presentamos un estudio sobre la enseñanza de
primeras en el Valladolid del siglo XVI.
In this paper, we analyze the lawauit that, betwenn 1597 and 1598, litigated Benito
Puche, italian teacher, and Francisco Ponce, warden of the Palencia’s jail, for the education of
his soon Francisco Ponce el mozo. From the content of the process and the teaching contracts
known so far, we present a study of teaching of first letters in the Valladolid of the sixteenth
century.
