Las peregrinaciones a La Meca de andalusíes y mudéjares: Dos realidades y un precepto a cumplir

Abstract

El peregrinaje a La Meca constituye el quinto pilar (u obligación) del Islam, lo que lo convierte en un acontecimiento de gran importancia en la vivencia de la fe islámica. En este trabajo nos proponemos analizar cómo lo vivieron dos musulmanes, un almohade y un mudéjar, y profundizar así en la cuestión de la identidad islámica de las comunidades mudéjares que vivieron su fe en minoría frente a la expresión dominante del islam andalusí. Para ello nos serviremos de los relatos de viaje (riḥla) de dos peregrinos que representan cada una de estas realidades, el valenciano Ibn Yubair y el abulense Omar Patún.

The pilgrimage to Mecca constitutes the fifth pillar (or obligation) of Islam, which makes it an event of great importance in the experience of the Islamic faith. In this dissertation we intend to analyse how two Muslims, an Almohad and a Mudejar lived it, and thus deepen the question of the Islamic identity of the Mudejar communities that lived their faith in a minority in the face of the dominant expression of Andalusian Islam. For that purpose we will use the travel stories (riḥla) of two pilgrims who represent each of these realities, Ibn Yubair from Valencia and Omar Patún from Avila.
