Consideraciones sobre las cartas de seguro húngaras e hispanas a favor de los egipcianos

Abstract

Noticias sobre la presencia de grupos de gitanos o ¿egipcianos¿en España a lo largo del siglo XV, a través de diversas fuentes, en especial las ¿cartas de seguro¿ o de salvoconducto otorgadas por los reyes, entendiendo que eran peregrinos que iban a Santiago, hasta el decreto de 1499 en que se les ordena salir de Castilla si no toman vecindad y oficio conocido. Comparación con las situaciones vividas, años antes, por los gitanos en el ámbito del Imperio, donde tenían ¿cartas de seguro¿ de los reyes de Hungría y de los mismos emperadores.

Information about the presence of groups of gypsies or ‘Egyptians’ in Spain over the course of the fifteenth century from diverse sources, particularly the ‘letters of security’ or safe-conducts the kings issued, understanding that the gypsies were pilgrims who went to Santiago, until the decree of 1499 that ordered them to leave Castile unless they established residences and known trades.
