Reportaje multimedia. La realidad de las residencias en Castilla y León en tiempos de pandemia.

Abstract

En Castilla y León, el 52% de las personas mayores fallecidas por Covid o síntomas compatibles en residencias durante el primer año de pandemia, murieron en su habitación. La Junta ordenó, en marzo de 2020, no derivar pacientes de centros geriátricos a hospitales. El criterio autonómico cambió el 16 de abril del mismo año. Hasta esa fecha, un total de 1929 defunciones se produjeron dentro de estos centros. El 88% de los fallecimientos del último año en residencias tiene como fecha el primer mes de pandemia, cuando el criterio era no derivar a hospitales. Con el titular Invisibles frente a la pandemia, este reportaje multimedia persigue el objetivo de analizar la realidad que han vivido las residencias de mayores durante la epidemia, así como mostrar la visión social y sanitaria a través de testimonios de los afectados. Por ello, la metodología utilizada se fundamenta en el análisis de los datos para su posterior interpretación, la entrevista en profundidad y las historias de vida. El trabajo periodístico ofrece la visión de dos personas afectadas por la crisis de las residencias y una periodista que informó en eldiario.es de lo sucedido. El resultado se presenta mediante una narrativa multimedia que permite visualizar datos, ofrecer entrevistas grabadas e hiperenlaces que permiten conocer esta realidad más invisible. Un total de seis residencias fueron consultadas para incluirlas en la realización de este reportaje. Se les dio la oportunidad de contar la realidad que han vivido en tiempos de pandemia. Ninguna accedió a ello.

In Castile and Leon, 52% of the elderly in nursing homes who have died from Covid or compatible symptoms during the first year of the pandemic, have died in their room. The Board ordered, in March 2020, not to refer patients from geriatric centers to hospitals. The autonomic criterion changed on April 16 of the same year. Until that date, a total of 1,929 deaths occurred within these centers. 88% of deaths in the last year in nursing homes are dated the first month of the pandemic, when the criterion was not to refer to hospitals. With the headline Invisible to the pandemic, this multimedia report seeks to analyze the reality that nursing homes have experienced during the pandemic, show the social and health visión through the testimonies of those affected. For this reason, the methodology used is based on the analysis of the data for its subsequent interpretation, the in-depth interview and the life stories. There is the vision of two people affected by the crisis in the nursing homes and a journalist who reported from what has occured. The result is offered through a multimedia narrative that allows visualizing data, offer recorded interviews and hyperlinks that allow us to know this most invisible reality. A total of six residences were asked for the realization of this report. They were given the opportunity to tell the reality that they have lived in times of pandemic. None agreed to it.
