El tratamiento de la comunidad trans* en elDiario.es y El Español

Abstract

Este TFG analiza el tratamiento de la comunidad trans* en dos periódicos nativos digitales españoles de líneas editoriales contrapuestas: elDiario.es, de tendencia progresista y El Español, de línea conservadora. Con el estudio se pretende conocer si la forma de abordar las informaciones sobre la comunidad trans* contribuye a una mayor inclusión social o, por el contrario, no recoge las recomendaciones del propio colectivo sobre su representación mediática. Para alcanzar estos objetivos se ha realizado un análisis de contenido de todas las noticias que mencionaran a la comunidad trans o LGBTIQ+ en dos fechas concretas, la semana antes y después del Día Internacional del Orgullo LGBT y del Día Internacional de la Visibilidad Transgénero. Se trata de dos fechas en las que las informaciones sobre la comunidad trans son habituales en la agenda mediática y que han permitido obtener una muestra de 585 noticias. Los resultados ponen de manifiesto deficiencias en la representación de la comunidad trans* en el diario conservador El Español, aun así, el periódico progresista elDiario.es sigue contando con varias irregularidades a mejorar en su tratamiento como la abundancia de temas sobre problemas o la redacción de titulares sensacionalistas.

This TFG analyzes the treatment of the trans* community in two spanish digital native newspapers with opposing editorial lines: elDiario.es, with a progressive tendency and El Español, with a conservative line. The study aims to know if the way to address information about the trans* community contributes to greater social inclusion or, on the contrary, does not include the recommendations of the collective itself on its media representation. To achieve these objectives, a content analysis of all news that mentions the trans or LGBTIQ+ community has been carried out on two specific dates, the week before and after International LGBT Pride Day and the International Day of Transgender Visibility. These are two dates in which information about the trans community is common in the media agenda and that have allowed to obtain a sample of 585 news. The results reveal deficiencies in the representation of the trans* community in the conservative newspaper El Español, even so, the progressive newspaper elDiario.es continues to have several irregularities to improve in its treatment such as the abundance of news about problems or sensationalist headlines.
