El trabajo a tiempo parcial

Abstract

Desde el momento de su implantación, el trabajo a tiempo parcial ha sido considerado como un instrumento que consiente una mayor libertad en la configuración del tiempo de trabajo, favoreciendo a empresarios y especialmente a los trabajadores, en cuanto a que podrán disponer de mayor tiempo para conciliar su vida personal con la laboral. A pesar de presentarse el trabajo a tiempo parcial como una modalidad contractual flexible y como una vía para fomentar el empleo estable, la realidad es que las ultimas reformas laborales han insertado unas desmedidas dosis de flexibilidad provocando que los derechos de los trabajadores con jornadas inferiores a los de un trabajador a tiempo completo se vean afectados.

From the moment of its introduction, part-time work has been considered as an instrument that allows greater freedom in the configuration of working time, favouring employers and especially workers, in that they will have more time to reconcile their personal and working lives. Despite the fact that part-time work is presented as a flexible contractual modality and as a way to promote stable employment, the reality is that the latest labour reforms have inserted excessive doses of flexibility, which has affected the rights of workers with shorter working hours than those of a full-time worker.
