Revalorización de lo vernáculo en la era digital

Abstract

Estudiar y analizar nuestras raíces nos permite comprender la trayectoria que nos ha llevado hasta el presente, y también crear un criterio para recuperar antiguas tradiciones y técnicas. La idea de utilizar “el lugar” como fuente de materiales de construcción se originó en las cuevas, donde se esculpía el espacio utilizando el propio material extraído del lugar para ejecutar las nuevas estructuras. Este enfoque se extiende al estudio de las formas de habitar el espacio y de comprender el significado del hogar, investigando los materiales naturales, su origen y simbolismo. De esta forma, se explorará la evolución del consumo y el diseño a través de monumentos históricos y las arquitecturas conceptuales. Tras la llegada de la Revolución Industrial 4.0, los edificios se conciben como bancos de datos, lo que nos proporciona información valiosa sobre su materialidad. No obstante, es importante analizar la arquitectura desde una perspectiva más abstracta, centrándonos en su concepto, origen y materialidad individual en lugar de considerarla como un “todo”. Este enfoque nos permite reconectar con la naturaleza y pensar en el edificio desde un punto de vista social y humano, con el objetivo de mejorar la calidad de vida presente y futura. Enfocaremos la atención a tres conceptos: lugar, material y técnica, identificando las características que vinculan el proyecto y la tierra con la naturaleza. Se analizarán diferentes obras arquitectónicas, esbozando la realidad actual y la ruta hacia un futuro sostenible y consciente. Por último, se presentan tres proyectos de propuesta que engloban las ideas y aspectos relevantes de los capítulos anteriores, estableciendo los estándares de la nueva revolución del campo de la construcción y la arquitectura, una revolución de la conciencia en la que la reutilización es el centro del debate.

Studying and analyzing our roots allows us to understand the path that has led us to our present, as well as create criterion to recover ancient traditions and techniques. The idea of using "the site" as a source of building materials originated in caves, where space was sculpted using the material extracted from the site to execute new structures. This approach extends to the study of ways of inhabiting space and understanding the meaning of home, by investigating natural materials, their origin, and symbolism. In this way, the evolution of consumption and design will be explored through historical monuments and conceptual architectures. After the arrival of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, buildings are conceived as data banks, providing us with valuable information about their materiality. However, it is important to analyze architecture from a more abstract perspective, focusing on its concept, origin, and individual materiality rather than considering it as a "whole". This approach allows us to reconnect with nature and think about the building from a social and human point of view, with the aim of improving present and future quality of life. We will focus on three concepts: place, material, and technique, identifying the characteristics that link the project and the land with nature. Different architectural works will be analyzed, outlining the current reality and the path towards a sustainable and conscious future. Finally, three proposed projects will be presented that involve the ideas and relevant aspects of the previous chapters, establishing the standards of the new revolution in the field of construction and architecture, a revolution of consciousness in which reuse is the center of the debate.
