Los Colegios-Universidad (Universidades Menores), Conventos-Universidad y Seminarios-Universidad en la España de los Siglos XV al XVIII y su ceremonial y protocolo en la tradición universitaria.

Abstract

The primary objective of this research on Colleges-Universities (Minor Universities), Convents-Universities and Seminaries-Universities in Spain from the 15th to the 18th centuries, is a recapitulation of their history, ceremonials, solemnities and cults, allowing us to better understand our current academic ceremonial. An analysis of different perspectives, such as the constitutions, the ceremonial, the protocol, the shields, the seals and organization of these institutions, their lifestyle, identity and idiosyncrasy, always in parallel and with close correlation of the three institutions: Colleges- University (Minor Universities), Convents-University and Seminaries-University. The general objective is to know the reasons why these academic institutions were created and to clarify their development through the history of the Catholic Church in Spain for almost three centuries. And, finally, as specific objectives we have believed it necessary to verify that these institutions were the seed of an education system -in principle for ecclesiastics- that was truncated by interests alien to these corporations, pursuing, on many occasions, social objectives and of diplomacy within Spanish territory and in some Latin American countries.

El objetivo primordial de esta investigación sobre los Colegios-Universidad (Universidades Menores), Conventos-Universidad y Seminarios-Universidad en la España de los siglos XV al XVIII, es una recapitulación de su historia, ceremoniales, solemnidades y cultos, permitiéndonos entender mejor nuestro ceremonial académico actual. Un análisis de diferentes perspectivas, como las constituciones, el ceremonial, el protocolo, los escudos, los sellos y organización de estas instituciones, su estilo de vida, identidad e idiosincrasia, siempre en paralelo y con estrecha correlación de las tres instituciones: Colegios-Universidad (Universidades Menores), Conventos-Universidad y Seminarios-Universidad. El objetivo general es conocer las razones por las que se crearon estas instituciones académicas y esclarecer su desarrollo a través de la historia de la Iglesia Católica en España durante casi tres siglos. Y, por último, como objetivos específicos hemos creído necesario verificar que estas instituciones fueron el germen de un sistema de enseñanza ―en principio para eclesiásticos― que se vio truncado por intereses ajenos a estas corporaciones, persiguiendo, en muchas ocasiones, objetivos sociales y de diplomacia dentro del territorio español y en algunos países de América latina.
