Estudio sobre ChatGPT y herramientas basadas en IA en la educación

Abstract

El uso de ChatGPT y otras inteligencias artificiales (IAs) ha redefinido la forma de utilizar gran parte de la tecnología actual, y su futuro augura una presencia de forma cada vez más habitual en nuestra vida diaria. La educación no puede mantenerse al margen de la aparición de estas herramientas tecnológicas, que han venido para quedarse, por lo que es crucial conocer las ventajas, los inconvenientes, las posibilidades y los retos que plantea su uso tanto por parte del alumnado, como del profesorado. Es necesario desde la docencia conocer los distintos conceptos que definen la base y funcionamiento de esta tecnología, así como estar al tanto de la aparición de nuevas herramientas basadas en ella y su posible aplicación en la educación. La experiencia en el periodo de prácticas al cursar el Máster, en el que se pudo observar la utilización de esta tecnología para generar documentación docente durante este período y el desempeño y manejo de las mismas por parte del alumnado, nos ha permitido plantear las reflexiones oportunas al respecto del potencial de utilizar el ChatGPT y las herramientas basadas en IA en el ámbito educativo. Se condujo además, una pequeña investigación mediante encuestas a un grupo representativo, en las que se obtuvo una valoración general de estas herramientas por parte de los encuestados. Así, se consiguió definir una idea inicial de sus posibilidades y puntos a mejorar en el futuro, para integrarlas adecuadamente y sin peligro, con el objetivo de garantizar un porvenir educativo más prometedor.

The use of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligences (AIs) has redefined the way we use much of today's technology, and their future predicts an increasingly common presence in our daily lives. Education cannot remain on the sidelines of the emergence of these technological tools, which are here to stay, so it is crucial to know the advantages, disadvantages, possibilities and challenges posed by their use by both students and teachers. It is necessary for teachers to know the different concepts that define the basis and functioning of this technology, as well as to be aware of the appearance of new tools based on them and their possible application in education. The experience in the internship period during the Master's degree, in which we were able to observe the use of this technology to generate teaching documentation, and the performance and handling of these tools by the students, has allowed us to raise appropriate thoughts on the potential of using ChatGPT and AI-based tools in the educational field. In addition, a small survey research was conducted with a representative group, in which a general assessment of these tools was obtained from the respondents. In this way, an initial idea of their possibilities and points for future improvement was defined, in order to integrate them properly and safely, with the aim of ensuring a more promising educational future.
