El universo de Charlotte Wells: un análisis textual de Aftersun (2020)

Abstract

Este trabajo propone una aproximación a la obra de Charlotte Wells a través del análisis textual de la película Aftersun (2022) y de los cortometrajes Tuesday (2016) y Blue Christmas (2017). La cineasta lleva a cabo en Aftersun un trabajo de reconstrucción de su pasado, poniendo el foco en el último verano que pasó con su padre. La lectura que presentamos se centrará tanto en los motivos más significativos del filme, como son la muerte, el duelo y la sexualidad, como en la forma fílmica, su materialidad significante.

This work proposes an approach to the work of Charlotte Wells through the textual analysis of the film Aftersun (2022) and her two short films Tuesday (2016) and Blue Christmas (2017). The filmmaker carries out in Aftersun a work of reconstruction of her past, focusing on the last summer she spent with her father. The reading we present will focus both on the most significant motives of the film, such as death, mourning and sexuality, and on the film form, its significant materiality.
