Aproximación estadística a la lingüística histórica: reconstrucción del protogermánico a partir del método de Montecarlo

Abstract

In this article, we will investigate the possibility of using mathematical algorithms for linguistic reconstruction, as we believe their use can contribute some benefits to the mentioned reconstruction. With the ability to handle a large amount of data and possibilities, we can more efficiently test certain hypotheses regarding changes that occur in linguistic evolution. Our focus will be on the possibility of reconstructing Proto-Germanic based on data from the preserved corpora in Gothic, Old High German, Old English, and Old Norse primarily. Likewise, we will adhere to the use of the Monte Carlo mathematical algorithm. This does not imply that the materials proposed for reconstruction cannot be used with other languages or that other algorithms cannot be utilized, but both are matters beyond the scope of this research.
