Dos proyectos de Isidro Suárez y Jesús Bermejo: una actitud de admiración hacia la obra de Le Corbusier

Abstract

This work is based on the practical review of Le Corbusier's work until the sixties, motivated, even encouraged, by two projects built in those years by other architects Isidro Suárez and Jesús Bermejo. His analysis proposes a recovery of the achievements achieved until then by Le Corbusier. With an attitude absorbed by the formalisms of his work and starting from those architectures, he will culminate in distant and novel solutions. The two projects studied are: the Cooperative in Chillán, (Chile) from 1960-1962 and the Single-Family House in Santiago de Chile from 1963, both buildings by these two architects, Isidro Suárez and Jesús Bermejo. The first of these works is a public building and the second a home. Both projects were built and show a dependence on the works of Le Corbusier, surely dazzled by the brilliance and world recognition of the master in those years. But it would be harsh and wrong to accept that these architectures were caricatures of Le Corbusier's creativity, and that their forms became simple parodies of his genius. Contrary to this opinion, the comparison between these works and those of the master will allow, on the one hand, to affirm the existence of a deep and at the same time practical reflection on his architecture, as well as the always attractive condition of approaching, in these considerations, the paradigmatic works of Le Corbusier. Este trabajo parte de la revisión práctica de la obra de Le Corbusier hasta la década de los sesenta motivada, incluso animada, por dos proyectos construidos en aquellos años por otros arquitectos Isidro Suárez y Jesús Bermejo. Su análisis plantea una recuperación de los logros conseguidos hasta entonces por Le Corbusier. Con una actitud ensimismada por los formalismos de su obra y partiendo de aquellas arquitecturas, culminará en soluciones distantes y novedosas. Los dos proyectos a los que se estudian son: la Cooperativa en Chillán, (Chile) de 1960-1962 y la Casa unifamiliar en Santiago de Chile de 1963, ambos edificios de estos dos arquitectos, Isidro Suárez y Jesús Bermejo. La primera de estas obras es un edificio público y el segundo una vivienda. Ambos proyectos se construyeron y muestran una dependencia hacia las obras de Le Corbusier, seguramente deslumbrados por la brillantez y el reconocimiento mundial del maestro en aquellos años. Pero sería severo y erróneo aceptar que estas arquitecturas fueron caricaturas de la creatividad de Le Corbusier, y que sus formas se convirtieron en simples parodias de su genialidad. Al contrario de esta opinión, el examen confrontado entre estas obras con las del maestro van a permitir, por un lado, afirmar la existencia de una reflexión profunda y al mismo tiempo práctica, sobre su arquitectura, así como la siempre atractiva condición de acercarnos, en estas consideraciones, a las obras paradigmáticas de Le Corbusier.
