Poder nobiliario en tiempos de fortalecimiento del poder regio. Los Lara y los Haro (1158 - 1230)

Abstract

En el tránsito del siglo XII al XIII, la monarquía castellana experimentó un proceso de fortalecimiento que alteró las bases de su relación con la nobleza, también proceso de consolidación. El objetivo del presente trabajo es realizar un estudio de las bases del poder nobiliario en este periodo para entender las complejas relaciones políticas entre los magnates y el rey, caracterizadas tanto por la cooperación como el conflicto. Para ello, se plantea un estudio comparado de dos de los principales linajes castellanos del momento, la familia Lara y la familia Haro, estudiando su evolución para comprender la caída de los primeros y el eventual ascenso de los segundos a la cúspide de la nobleza castellana a comienzos del reinado de Fernando III.

The strengthening of royal authority in Castile between the end of the 12th and the beginning of the 13th centuries fundamentally changed the framework of its relationship with the nobility, which was also gaining strength. The aim of this Undergrad Dissertation is to examine the foundations of noble power during this period, in order to understand the complex relations between the magnates and the king, which oscillated from to cooperation to conflict. To this end, two of the most prominent noble families of the time, the Lara and the Haro will be analysed. This examination, in sum, will show the decline of the Lara and the eventual rise of the Haro to the summit of Castilian nobility at the beginning of Fernando III’s reign.
