La belleza en la filosofía de Platón: ascesis, anamnesis y anagogía

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene como objeto una aproximación a la belleza en la filosofía platónica, atendiendo a su sentido ascético. A través del análisis del método dialéctico como itinerario de transformación del alma, del influjo de lo corpóreo sobre las facultades anímicas y de la articulación entre lo sensible y lo inteligible a partir del concepto de imagen, se abordan las condiciones de posibilidad del conocimiento de lo divino. Con base en una lectura filosófica del Banquete, el Fedro, y el Timeo, se profundiza en la dimensión anamnético-anagógica de la belleza. Todos estos aspectos confluyen en la concepción de la belleza como teofanía y en la función catártica de la contemplación del universo en el pensamiento platónico.

This paper offers an approach to beauty in Platonic philosophy, focusing on its ascetic dimension. Through an analysis of the dialectical method as an itinerary of the soul’s transformation, the influence of the corporeal upon the soul’s faculties, and the articulation between the sensible and the intelligible through the concept of image, the study examines the conditions of possibility for the knowledge of the divine. Based on a philosophical reading of the Symposium, the Phaedrus, and the Timaeus, it delves into the anamnestic-anagogic dimension of beauty. All these aspects converge in the conception of beauty as theophany and in the cathartic function of cosmic contemplation within Platonic thought.
