El presente trabajo pretende dar una visión a través de la aproximación al conocimiento del alabastro como material artístico en la escultura del siglo XVI en la Corona de Castilla, así como la relevancia y el nuevo planteamiento que desde las nuevas vías de investigación durante la segunda mitad de la década de los años noventa del siglo XX, se otorga a la materialidad como parte intrínseca del contenido y significado histórico- artístico de la propia obra.
The present work aims to give an approximate vision of the knowledge of alabaster as an artistic material in the sculpture of the 16th century in the Crown of Castile, as well as the relevance and the new approach that from the new avenues of research during the second half of the decade of the nineties of the 20th century, materiality is given as an intrinsic part of the content and historical-artistic meaning of the work itself.
